What do you believe is the purpose of a volunteer trip like this, and how is such an experience beneficial for Sunwest and the community?

“Volunteerism impacts two things: the people and communities you are assisting and yourself and the community around you. It can come in many forms, whether its physical, emotional, monetary or spiritual. How volunteering affects me is the aforementioned items. It presents an opportunity to reevaluate how I see the world, how I am living my life and how these experiences will change the way I interact with the people and communities around me. This process has a tremendous opportunity to impact and be beneficial to Sunwest and the community as members of the volunteer group return home. The experiences will have to have an impact and it gives the group a chance to spread the message of how they were impacted personally and what they saw and experienced.”

Can you explain your commitment to philanthropy?

“Philanthropy is important to me and comes in many forms. Various causes can have a different ways to contribute. Specific occasions might call for monetary contribution, other times it’s about giving your time to others by physical work or just being available for emotional support. Everyone has a gift and they should share it with the world as often as possible.”
